I wasn’t at Coachella (the Coachella Valley Music Festival) this past weekend in Indio, CA, and that’s okay. I think it’s good to go out on a high note. Last year was my third year there. D went eight years in a row. But, this year, I’m eight months pregnant and couldn’t even get health insurance to travel to the US and bake in the desert sun for three days if I tried…

I’m also getting too old for it now that I’m north of 30… No joke, but last year I found myself staring at tattoos on 18-year-olds thinking “you are reeeeallly going to regret that when you’re older”. Plus, we used to go with a big group of friends and rent a house but we are growing up and different priorities have taken over. I think the ‘chella days are over. While I’m fine with this overall, I felt a bit nostalgic this past weekend even though I wasn’t excited about the line-up. I love music in that setting – it’s a massive polo field surrounded by palm trees and the mountains lining the Coachella Valley. I missed the trip to Palm Desert this time of year too – we would rent a house in a gated community across from the festival (Indian Palms Country Club & Resort), go down a few days early, stock up at Trader Joe’s and spend time lounging by the pool and relaxing.  It’s weird to feel too old for an event. Time flies. I remember wanting to be old enough to do things like go to an all-weekend music festival. Fast forward to 2015, when I took the money I would have spent on a weekend pass and bought a top-of-the-line breast pump. Who am I?! How did this happen? So, when I think about it, it makes sense that my time at Coachella is up. But I’m not ready to give up on Spring-time trips to Palm Desert quite yet. I think next year we are going to try to go down for the Indian Wells tennis tournament with some of our friends and that way I can get my sunshine and pool time in. I might even have to wear a one piece (eeeek!!!)! Until then, I’ve got my Coachella pictures from 2012, 2013, and 2014 to look back on fondly. xoxo Karine
